Ethics Committee Procedures
IACT is committed to fostering harmony, integrity, credibility, and mutual respect among all practitioners. It is in the spirit of professionalism and accountability that the Association has engaged the services of an independent third party for the purpose of dispute resolution.
The Ethics Committee is a volunteer body of experienced professionals appointed by the Association to review materials pertaining to disputes and to render a considered opinion on any complaint received.
In the event a complaint is lodged against a member in good standing, the following procedure will be followed:
- The complainant agrees to full disclosure with regard to the timeline, parties involved, and events surrounding the complaint. No anonymous complaints will be considered.
- If the complaint falls outside the jurisdiction of the Association and involves a matter of law, the complainant is urged to contact the relevant local authorities.
- The Association will contact the respective member concerning the complaint, whereupon the member has fourteen (14) days in which to respond to the allegation.
- Both the complaint and the member’s response will be forwarded to the Ethics Committee members for review.
- The Committee will review all available information presented and subsequently make a recommendation regarding appropriate disciplinary action.
- Depending upon the seriousness of the complaint, the member may be suspended or dismissed from the Association upon completion of the ethics procedure.
- The outcome will be permanently recorded within the Association’s files.
- Both the complainant and the member will be informed of the outcome within 30 days of the Ethics Committee’s receipt of the complaint.
The Association has no legal authority to administer disciplinary action outside of the organization. We are committed to doing our utmost to arbitrate disputes within the organization and to facilitate an amicable resolution for all parties. To file a formal complaint, please submit it in writing addressed to the Ethics Committee at staff@iact.org.
